After India’s spectacular win against Pakistan in the 2023 World Cup, the legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, who was instrumental in India’s eight World Cup victories over Pakistan, trolled his former on-field foe Shoaib Akhtar.
On the eve of the highly anticipated World Cup 2023 match, Shoaib Akhtar created a humorous post on the social networking website as part of a promotional effort. Akhtar delivered a message to the Pakistan team and uploaded an old photo of one of his dismissals of Tendulkar. Before the big game, Shoaib issued a message to the Babar Azam-led Pakistani side, encouraging them to play the game quietly and composedly. He asked them to maintain their composure by using the hashtag #ThandRakh.
Sachin responded with his trademark sense of humour, “My friend, aap ka suggestion follow kiya aur sab kuch billlkoool THANDA rakha.“ (My friend, they followed your advice and kept everything ‘cool’.) This witty exchange between the two cricketing greats added a touch of camaraderie to the intense rivalry.
After India defeated Pakistan in one of their most lopsided World Cup victories, Sachin Tendulkar made the comment. Rohit Sharma’s brilliant 86 off only 63 balls helped India chase down the mark in just 30.3 overs after eliminating Pakistan for just 191.
Sachin Tendulkar, who is also the ICC ambassador for the World Cup, was the centre of attention on Saturday at the Narendra Modi Stadium when he joined the two sides for the national anthems. Prior to the game’s start in Motera, he also gave Virat Kohli a loving embrace and brought the World Cup trophy to the centre.
