For the first time in its history, the UK Royal Navy has appointed a Hindu chaplain. Bhanu Attri, originally from Himachal Pradesh, has been entrusted with this historic role, providing spiritual guidance and support to navy personnel of Hindu faith. His selection marks a significant moment for diversity and inclusion within the Royal Navy, as he becomes the first non-Christian to hold such an official position.
Attri completed specialized training that includes officer instruction and chaplaincy preparation before taking on his duties. His appointment has received warm praise from both the Hindu Council UK and leaders across the community, celebrating it as a meaningful step toward greater representation within Britain’s armed forces.
