Two teams of Indian expatriates struck gold in the latest Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire draw, each earning a share of the $1 million prize.
Group one included 10 friends led by Ettiyanikkal Pailybabu, a 56-year-old site supervisor from Kerala. The group had been pooling resources and rotating their names on tickets for four years. Pailybabu’s online ticket (#3068), purchased on August 18, secured them the jackpot. He plans to return to Kerala and start a small business.
The second group was led by 46-year-old Gopi Devarajan from Chennai, a hospital manager based in Sharjah. He and three colleagues won with ticket #1978 from the Series 514 draw. Devarajan said he would reserve the prize for his children’s education and potentially invest in property or a small business.
These wins make Pailybabu and Devarajan the 257th and 258th Indian nationals, respectively, to win the $1 million prize since the inaugural draw in 1999 – highlighting the strong participation and luck of Indian expats in the long-running promotion.
