VOIWORLD/Hyderabad: The Tata Boeing Aerospace joint venture has achieved a major milestone in India’s aerospace manufacturing sector with the rollout of its 400th fuselage for the AH-64E Apache attack helicopter from its Hyderabad facility.
The milestone underscores the growing role of India-based manufacturing in Boeing’s global aerospace and defence supply chain and marks another step in the expansion of advanced aerospace manufacturing capabilities in the country.
The Hyderabad facility, operated by Tata Boeing Aerospace Ltd. (TBAL), manufactures fuselages for Boeing’s AH-64 Apache helicopters. The partnership between Tata Advanced Systems and Boeing has positioned Hyderabad as an important hub for the production of complex aerospace structures for global programmes.
The Apache fuselage is a critical structural component of the attack helicopter, and production in India reflects the increasing localisation of defence manufacturing and the integration of Indian suppliers into international aerospace programmes.
The latest milestone also highlights the evolution of India’s aerospace manufacturing ecosystem, with companies increasingly moving beyond component production towards the manufacture of sophisticated structures and systems for global customers.
The Tata-Boeing partnership is part of a broader push to strengthen India’s indigenous defence and aerospace manufacturing capabilities while creating opportunities for Indian engineering, technology and supply-chain companies.
The Hyderabad facility has emerged as an important part of this ecosystem, supporting both domestic industrial capabilities and Boeing’s international supply chain.
The 400th Apache fuselage rollout comes at a time when India is seeking to deepen domestic defence production, expand aerospace manufacturing and increase the participation of Indian companies in global value chains.
