Displaying the vibrant colours of north Indian state, Rajasthan Divas was celebrated at Uganda High Commission in New Delhi recently. During the celebration of Rajasthan Divas at the High Commission, One-District-One-Product (#ODOP) products procured by the Mission were on display. Rajasthani Association Uganda also showcased their art and handicraft products besides vibrant cultural performances.
There is a sizable community of the Indian diaspora and people of Indian descent in Uganda and people from Rajasthan have a good presence there because of old trade ties including that of Marwaris. In 2003, there were an estimated 15,000 people of Asian descent living in Uganda and Indians are a dominant force
There are many Indians which are associated with Uganda in a big way. One of the prominent personalities is Madhusudan Agrawal, the Honorary Consul of Uganda in Mumbai, India ( Western Zone ), who has been instrumental in strengthening India-Uganda relations through his humanitarian efforts, and his dedication to diplomacy and social welfare. He was chosen for this honor from among more than 200 honorary consuls representing various countries in India
