PM Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron jointly inaugurated Bharat Innovates 2026 in Nice, France, marking a major step in efforts to deepen cooperation between the two countries in technology, innovation and entrepreneurship. The three-day event is a flagship initiative under the India-France Year of Innovation and brings together startups, investors, researchers and industry leaders from across the world.
The PM Modi, Macron launch Bharat Innovates 2026 in Nice event showcased India’s growing deep-tech ecosystem and its ambition to become a global innovation hub. More than 120 Indian deep-tech startups and over 15 higher education institutions are participating, with sectors ranging from artificial intelligence and semiconductors to biotechnology, space technology, healthcare and advanced manufacturing.
Addressing the gathering, PM Modi said innovation is embedded in India’s culture and stressed that the country has evolved from being a technology adopter to a technology provider. He described Bharat Innovates as an invitation for global partners to collaborate with India in shaping the future of innovation and technology.
Macron praised India’s innovation ecosystem and highlighted the role of technology and entrepreneurship in strengthening the India-France strategic partnership. The French President also underscored the importance of collaboration between startups, research institutions and investors from both countries.
The event is designed to connect Indian innovators with global venture capital funds, technology companies and research institutions. Organisers say more than 500 investors, corporate leaders and venture capital firms are participating in the summit, providing Indian startups with international exposure and investment opportunities.
