More than 100 Taiwanese companies, including leading iPhone manufacturer Hon Hai Technology Group (Foxconn), will participate in the upcoming Taiwan Expo 2025, scheduled from September 25 to 27 in India.
The Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) confirmed that a total of 107 enterprises will be part of the exhibition this year. According to Keven Cheng, TAITRA’s Deputy Director, India has become a crucial new hub for Taiwanese industries due to its large domestic market, skilled workforce, and strategic location, especially at a time when tariff challenges and global supply chains are undergoing major shifts.
Since its inception in 2018, Taiwan Expo has been organized annually, marking its eighth consecutive edition this year. Over time, it has grown into a key platform for Taiwanese companies to expand in India, with cooperation already showing results in fields such as semiconductors, electronics manufacturing, information and communication technology (ICT), and smart machinery.
Highlighting the growing momentum in bilateral ties, Yu-Chi Chen, Executive Director of the Economic Division at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in India, noted that Taiwan-India trade touched a record USD 10.6 billion in 2024.
The presence of Taiwanese enterprises in India has also risen sharply, with the number of firms investing in the country tripling since 2017 and now crossing 250 companies. This expansion reflects a deeper integration of the Taiwan-India industrial value chain, extending beyond electronics to sectors such as electric vehicles (EVs), renewable energy, semiconductors, green solutions, and healthcare.
Foxconn, which has already built a strong base in India’s electronics and iPhone production ecosystem, will be one of the flagship participants this year. Organizers said the Expo will feature both first-time Taiwanese entrants into the Indian market as well as well-established companies seeking to strengthen their foothold.
Amid shifting geopolitical and trade dynamics, Taiwan and India have been steadily enhancing cooperation in technology, manufacturing, and talent development. The Taiwan Expo 2025 is expected to play a pivotal role in expanding partnerships and creating mutual economic opportunities.
