Two Indians lost their life in separate tragic accidents across the country. In the first incident High Commission of India in Ottawa, Canada reported the death of Indian pilot, identified as Sreehari Sukesh, who was killed when his single-engine plane collided mid-air with another similar aircraft piloted by a Canadian youth, who was also killed in the accident.
Reports added that the students collided when approaching a landing strip while practising takeoffs and landings
The Consulate General of India said it was “in contact with the bereaved family, the pilot training school and local police to provide all necessary assistance. The bodies of the two student pilots were recovered in the wreckage of their single-engine planes after both crashed mid-air on Tuesday morning (July 8, 2025) near Steinbach, roughly 50 km southeast of Winnipeg,” a Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) news report said.
In a separate incident on the afternoon of July 7 2025, at around 5:40 pm, an Indian woman in her 20s was struck by a pickup truck at the intersection of Elgin Street and Laurier Avenue West in Ottawa. Emergency crews arrived at the situation quickly and transported the woman to the hospital. However, once at the hospital, the woman was pronounced dead. The driver of the pickup truck reportedly remained at
the scene and was unharmed. The Ottawa Police Service Fatal Collision Investigations Unit is actively
investigating the case and looking for witnesses to the collision, anyone who may possess dashcam
or surveillance footage of the accident and hasn’t spoken to the police yet.
