A 19-year-old Indian youth from Kozhikode, Kerala, died after falling from the terrace of a high-rise building in Dubai’s Deira area on November 7.
According to his family and local reports, the young man, who was staying with relatives on a short visit, climbed onto the rooftop of a multi-storey building to photograph low-flying airplanes near the adjacent airport. He lost his balance when his leg reportedly got caught between pipes, and he fell to the ground.
He was rushed to Rashid Hospital with multiple internal injuries but succumbed soon after arrival. His relatives say he had been in Dubai for about two weeks, staying with cousins while his parents remained in Kerala.
The victim was pursuing a diploma in civil engineering in his home district and was described by friends and family as a keen photography enthusiast. The incident has prompted warnings from authorities and community members about the risks of accessing unsecured rooftops and taking high-risk photographs.
