Kapil Sharma’s nearby café, Kap’s Café in Surrey (British Columbia), was once again attacked in the early hours of Thursday, marking the second shooting incident at the location within a month. At least six bullets struck the café, shattering windows and causing visible damage. Fortunately, no one was injured.
Surrey Police said they were called to the scene at around 4:40 a.m., and frontline investigators have taken over the case. This week’s incident follows an earlier attack in July, when shots were fired at the newly opened café. That attack was claimed by Harjit Singh Laddi, a member of the banned Khalistani group Babbar Khalsa International, though no motives have been confirmed.
Authorities have not yet identified suspects, but a chilling twist emerged as social media posts by members of the Goldy Dhillon and Lawrence Bishnoi gangs claimed responsibility. One such video featured a voice warning, “If he still doesn’t hear the ring, the next action will be taken soon in Mumbai.” These posts cite Kapil Sharma’s public friendship with Bollywood star Salman Khan as a possible provocation, referencing past conflicts involving Khan.
Municipal leaders including Surrey’s mayor had previously visited the café after the first attack to show support. The repeated targeting has heightened security concerns for members of the South Asian business community in the area. Investigators are calling for public assistance, particularly images or footage that might help identify those involved.
