Brar Goldstien, a 38‑year‑old Israeli, has filed for shared custody of his two daughters after they were discovered living in a cave in Karnataka alongside their Russian mother, Nina Kutina. Goldstien told The Indian Express he has not seen the children since October 2024 and worries they have been kept out of school and cut off from others.
He says Kutina permitted him to live with the family initially but began isolating him, allegedly assaulting him and demanding money. Goldstien filed a missing‐persons report in Goa last December after losing contact with Kutina and the children. According to the complaint, Kutina subjected him and her older son to physical violence and erratic behaviour.
Police located Kutina and her daughters, aged six and five, in a cave in Gokarna forest, where they had reportedly lived in isolation for nearly two months. Without valid visa documents, Kutina has been moved to a detention centre under the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) and is facing deportation to Russia. Her daughters’ future remains uncertain as their father pursues custody. Goldstien, who first met Kutina in 2017 in India, is now seeking legal recourse to secure his parental rights and prevent the deportation of his daughters alongside their mother.
