Indian survivor of Houthi strike on Red Sea ship repatriated from Saudi Arabia. The vessel eventually sunk as four crew members were killed and 20 more personnel went missing.
The Indian Consulate in Jeddah on July 15, facilitated the repatriation of Augustin Dassayan
Recently, the merchant vessel Eternity C, a Liberia-flagged, Greek-operated bulk carrier, was
attacked for over two days by Houthi militants in the Red Sea with drones, RPGs, and speedboats
Dassayan, a security guard, was aboard the ship when it faced coordinated attacks on Monday, July 7.
Ten survivors including Augustin were rescued and airlifted to Jizan, Saudi Arabia on 14 July. A team from the Indian Consulate in Jeddah met Augustin and ensured his wellbeing. The team facilitated his return
to India, providing medical and logistical support and assistance to the best of their capabilities. The
Indian Embassy in Riyadh thanked the Saudi authorities for their help via a post on X.
