Pratik Pandey, a 35-year-old software engineer of Indian origin, was found dead at Microsoft’s Silicon Valley campus on August 20. He had last badged into the office the previous evening, on August 19, and was known to work late into the night. Family members confirmed these details.

Authorities reported no suspicious activity at the scene, and the cause of death remains under investigation by the Santa Clara County medical examiner. No criminal probe has been launched.

Pandey was highly regarded for his work on Microsoft’s Fabric and Synapse platforms, which power large-scale data analytics. He had joined Microsoft in 2020 after roles at several high-profile companies, including Apple and Walmart. Born in India, he held a Bachelor’s degree from Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, Bhopal, and completed his master’s in the U.S.

Loved by colleagues and friends, Pratik received tributes for his “radiant smile” and passion for soccer. He is survived by his family, who are coordinating with authorities to bring his remains back to India. Viewing services are taking place in the Bay Area. Microsoft has not issued a statement.
