Anmol Bishnoi, younger brother of noted gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, was deported from the United States and landed in New Delhi on Wednesday, where he was promptly arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and remanded in custody for 11 days.
Anmol had been absconding since 2022 and was wanted in multiple high-profile cases including the murder of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique. His deportation followed U.S. authorities’ long-running efforts to bring him back under Indian law-enforcement collaboration.
After arriving on a special flight at around 2 pm, he was produced before Patiala House Court in Delhi and placed under NIA remand. Investigators will now question him on his role in the organised crime network allegedly led by Lawrence Bishnoi, including extortion, contract killings and cross-border movement of fugitives.
The case underscores the deepening international coordination between Indian and U.S. agencies in tackling fugitive networks with Indian links. It also signals a strong message that absconding criminals will face justice regardless of where they hide.
