Mumbai, December 11, 2025: The third edition of the India-Sweden Sustainability Day, hosted by Business Sweden in association with the Consulate General of Sweden and the Embassy of Sweden, reaffirmed the two nations’ shared ambition to accelerate industrial decarbonisation and shape a resilient, green future.
This year’s theme, “Enabling Conditions for Industrial Net-Zero,” spotlighted Sweden’s climate leadership and the growing depth of its collaborations with India as both countries work to scale solutions for Industry 4.0 and next-generation energy systems.
Sweden has strengthened its position as a global innovation frontrunner in 2025, retaining the second spot in the Global Innovation Index. Speakers noted that the country’s advanced clean-tech ecosystem—spanning green steel, battery technologies, circular manufacturing and AI-driven industrial efficiency—offers key synergies for India’s rapidly expanding industrial landscape.
Addressing the gathering, senior representatives from both governments stressed the urgency of accelerating sustainability transitions across sectors such as mobility, manufacturing, mining, and energy. “Industrial decarbonisation is not only a climate priority but also an economic opportunity,” said a Swedish official. “Sweden and India are uniquely positioned to co-develop scalable solutions that meet global demand for low-carbon production.”
Panels through the day focused on critical enablers such as climate finance, policy alignment, digitalisation of factories, and pathways to integrate circularity into supply chains. Industry leaders from both countries also showcased successful joint pilots and emerging partnerships—ranging from smart manufacturing platforms and green hydrogen technologies to next-generation battery materials and waste-to-value solutions.
India’s growing renewable energy capacity and ambitious net-zero 2070 roadmap were highlighted as major drivers for strengthening cooperation. “Our industries are undergoing a fundamental shift,” said an Indian industry participant. “Swedish innovation combined with India’s scale can fast-track global competitiveness in clean manufacturing.”
Business Sweden said the event saw a record level of participation from Swedish companies operating in India, as well as Indian conglomerates and policymakers exploring technology tie-ups. The forum concluded with a renewed call to action: to deepen co-innovation, deploy proven green technologies at scale, and create policy frameworks that enable industries in both nations to transition faster and more competitively towards net-zero.
