India is reportedly preparing to host Ukrainian President Zelenskyy as early as January 2026 . While no dates have been finalized , both sides remain in active communication , and are examining preliminary scheduling options .
If confirmed , the trip would be Zelenskyy’s first official visit to India since the Russia – Ukraine war began in 2022. Preparatory exchanges between New Delhi and Kyiv are understood to cover humanitarian assistance ,economic cooperation and potential areas of long-term engagement ,including reconstruction planning when conditions allow .
The proposed visit comes shortly after Russian President Vladimir Putin’s official trip to New Delhi earlier this month .India has maintained high level contact with both Russia and Ukraine throughout the conflict , pursuing what could be described as a calibrated diplomatic approach that keeps channels open with all the parties . India has reiterated its position for dialogue de–escalation and respect for sovereignty while continuing longstanding defense and energy ties with Moscow .
A meeting between Indian PM Modi and President Zelenskyy , if scheduled, would include discussions on the humanitarian situations in Ukraine , global security developments and Ukraine’s outreach to Indo-pacific partners .Kyiv has sought to deepen engagement with countries in the region as part of its broader diplomatic outreach .
For now, the visit remains under consideration and final confirmation will depend on coordination between the two governments and Zelenskyy’s broader international commitments . Timelines may adjust depending on developments surrounding the conflict .
Until an official announcement is issued , the possible Zelenskyy visit remains a working plan , one that reflects Indias ongoing effort to balance complex international relationships while maintaining its role as a diplomatic interlocutor
