Prime Minister Narendra Modi responded to the rising violence in the area by expressing his deep worry and pledging his support for Israel in these trying times. “Deeply shocked by the news of terrorist attacks in Israel,” Prime Minister Modi tweeted. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the innocent victims and their families. We stand in solidarity with Israel at this difficult hour.”
The largest attack on Israel in years was launched by the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas on Saturday. The unexpected onslaught included militants breaking into numerous Israeli communities and a hefty bombardment of rockets fired from the Gaza Strip.
