Union Minister of State for Communications and Rural Development Dr Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani addressed more than 1,000 members of the Indian community in Baku – including professionals from oil and gas, hospitality and trading sectors, as well as 380 university students – urging them to deepen ties with India.
He praised the unity shown by associations such as the Indian Azerbaijan Association, Azerbaijan Telugu Association, Baku Tamil Sangham and the Indian Students Association of Azerbaijan as reflecting a modern and ambitious India rooted in its heritage.
Highlighting India’s progress in digital innovation, renewable energy, space exploration and economic growth, he underlined that the diaspora’s success abroad boosts India’s standing and their investments create opportunities back home. He encouraged the youth to embrace their dual identity, combining India’s ancient wisdom with a modern global outlook.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment, he said India’s doors are always open to its global community-calling on them to mentor start-ups, invest in India’s future and act as bridges between cultures and continents.
