Indian PM Modi has unveiled a new trilateral technology and innovation partnership involving India, Canada and Australia, following his meeting with Canadian and Australian leaders on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Johannesburg. The initiative aims to deepen collaboration across key technological domains and strengthen bilateral and multilateral engagement among the three countries.
According to the announcement, the pact seeks to enhance cooperation in areas such as emerging technologies, digital systems, clean energy solutions, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and critical innovation-driven sectors. The agreement is positioned as a strategic step toward boosting joint research, commercial innovation and talent mobility across borders.
Indian PM Modi stated that the three nations share democratic values and complementary strengths, making this cooperation a natural extension of existing ties. He highlighted that the partnership will support shared interests across three continents and accelerate technological development with long-term benefits for citizens. The leaders also expressed confidence that the trilateral framework will drive new opportunities for start-ups, academic institutions and industry players in all three countries.
The India–Canada–Australia Technology and Innovation Partnership aligns with India’s growing role in global tech ecosystems and its push for digital expansion. The announcement comes at a time when Indian innovation capacity, digital infrastructure and skilled workforce are increasingly recognised as drivers of international collaboration.
