The Minister in charge of Trade of the Eurasian Economic Commission, Andrey Slepnev has held discussions with India’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, during an official meeting in the capital. The talks centered on advancing trade relations and laying the groundwork for a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between India and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
One of the key outcomes was the endorsement of a roadmap designed to facilitate a smooth and accelerated negotiation process. Both sides stressed that the roadmap would serve as a practical framework for guiding structured discussions and ensuring efficient progress in the months ahead.
As part of the agreed approach, the first round of negotiations is scheduled to take place in early November this year in India. This initial round will focus on the core aspects of the prospective agreement, setting the stage for detailed deliberations in subsequent phases. To prepare, intensive consultations will be carried out between the Eurasian Economic Commission, representatives of the EAEU Member States, and Indian counterparts.
The two Ministers further committed to maintaining regular communication to provide comprehensive support throughout the negotiation process. Their joint emphasis on close coordination reflects a shared determination to advance toward a mutually beneficial FTA that could open new avenues for trade, investment, and economic cooperation.
