There was an informal get-together luncheon held at Union Minister of State, Dr. Jitendra Singh’s official residence in New Delhi for Delhi based J&K, Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram and Union Territories (AGMUT) cadre officers from All India Services officers such as Indian Administrative Service, Indian Police Service, Indian Forest Service belonging to the erstwhile Jammu & Kashmir Cadre. The luncheon was hosted by Dr. Singh who holds charge of Union MoS (Ind. Charge )Science & Technology; Earth Sciences; MoS PMO,PP/ DoPT, Atomic Energy, Space as part of the long-standing tradition started by him of encouraging unity and trust between officers beyond the guidelines of formal duty through these interactions.
The minister highlighted Jammu & Kashmir’s importance and discussed recent achievements including the highest rail bridge in the world, the Chenab Bridge, the Lithium discovery, and the Purple Revolution of lavender farming that has been a success in the region
Dr. Singh addressed the gathering by reflecting on the successful career of several officers and discussing the initiative started by the Modi government in 2014 that required senior officers to visit their first posting districts and file developmental assessment reports that gave them the feeling of personal connection to their service. The gathering also talked about India’s milestones such as the Chenab Bridge, the Lithium discovery and the Purple Revolution of Lavendar Farming. He stated that Jammu and Kashmir would be the engine that drives India to becoming the 1 st largest global economy. The gathering involved more than the address by Dr. Singh. The officers were able to share their experiences, feedback and concerns directly with the minister who offered
his own insights and guidance. The Minister motivated the officers to go beyond the rigid hierarchies and claimed to maintain personal contact with several officers whom he reached out to directly when public welfare is in concern. The officers praised Dr. Singh’s personal involvement and named it the ‘human touch to administration’ that made them want to go above and beyond in providing citizen centric governance.
