South Korean auto major Hyundai Motor’s Indian arm has recorded its highest-ever SUV sales contribution in September 2025, powered by GST 2.0 reforms, festive demand, and strong customer interest. The company reported total sales of 70,347 units, a 10% growth compared to September 2024 (64,201 units).

Domestic sales grew modestly by 1% year-on-year, but surged 17% compared to August 2025, underscoring the strong momentum generated by the GST 2.0 reforms and festive season demand. Exports posted an impressive 44% year-on-year jump, marking the highest monthly export volume in 33 months.

A major highlight for HMIL in September 2025 was the record contribution of SUVs to domestic sales. Out of 51,547 units sold, SUVs accounted for 37,313 units, representing an all-time high 72.4% share of total domestic sales. Leading the momentum, the Creta posted its highest-ever monthly sales at 18,861 units, while the Venue registered 11,484 units, its best performance in the last 20 months.

The Hyundai Creta emerged as the star performer, recording its best-ever monthly sales at 18,861 units and reaffirming its leadership as India’s top-selling SUV. The Hyundai Venue also delivered a standout performance with 11,484 units, its highest in 20 months. SUVs continued to power HMIL’s growth story, contributing 72.4% of domestic sales (37,313 units) — the highest SUV share in the company’s history.

On the exports front, HMIL shipped 18,800 units, a 44% increase year-on-year compared to 13,100 units in September 2024. This also marked the highest monthly export volume in 33 months since December 2022. For the April–September 2025 period, cumulative exports grew 17% YoY to 99,540 units, further reinforcing HMIL’s strategic role as Hyundai Motor Company’s global manufacturing hub under the vision of ‘Make in India, Made for the World.’

Speaking on the milestone, Mr. Tarun Garg, Wholetime Director & COO, HMIL, said:

“We sincerely thank the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji for the transformative GST 2.0 reforms, which have fueled aspirations across the nation. Following these reforms, HMIL has witnessed domestic and export markets growing in tandem — a true double-engine growth story. In September, our domestic sales touched 51,547 units, led by vibrant festive demand. SUVs accounted for a record 72.4% of sales, with CRETA achieving its highest-ever monthly sales at 18,861 units, and VENUE registering its best performance in the last 20 months with 11,484 units.”

He further added: “Exports too have been remarkable, surging 44% YoY to 18,800 units — our best monthly export tally in 33 months since December 2022. This synchronized growth of SUVs and exports reinforces Hyundai Motor India’s strategic role as Hyundai Motor Company’s global manufacturing hub. As a proud flagbearer of ‘Make in India, Made for the World’, we remain committed to Atmanirbhar Bharat and inclusive growth across the mobility ecosystem.”
