New Delhi: Investigators have confirmed that DNA evidence from the blast site near Delhi’s prestigious Red Fort matches the genetic profile of Dr. Umar Un Nabi, identifying him as the perpetrator behind Monday’s car explosion. The white Hyundai i20 used in the attack was linked to Umar through samples collected from the vehicle and remains recovered at the scene.
This discovery marks a significant break in the investigation, underscoring that the incident was not random but part of a broader terror module. Authorities believe the plot involved multiple vehicles – including a Ford EcoSport and a Maruti Brezza – indicating a coordinated plan targeting the capital.
Security officials have described the detained suspects as part of an “educated network,” involving medical professionals, students and logisticians across Delhi-NCR, Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir. The arrest of Dr. Umar had followed police raids where 2,900 kg of explosives and ammonium nitrate were seized in Faridabad.
