The air quality in the Delhi‑NCR region remains in the “very poor” category, with the overall Air Quality Index (AQI) measured at 362 as of 6 a.m., according to the Central Pollution Control Board.
Several areas recorded high readings: R.K. Puram at 362, Patparganj at 361, India Gate at 353 and Akshardham around 350. One location, Anand Vihar, entered the “severe” category with an AQI of 428.
The elevated pollution levels follow the festive season and cooler temperatures, which reduce wind speeds and trap pollutants near ground level. Experts say those with respiratory issues, children and the elderly face heightened risks.
