Deepika Padukone has made history by becoming the first Indian actress to be honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She is part of the Class of 2026 in the Motion Pictures category, joining international names such as Emily Blunt, Timothée Chalamet, Rami Malek, and Rachel McAdams.
Deepika shared a message of gratitude on social media following the announcement. The news was widely celebrated, with fellow actors and fans applauding the recognition as a milestone for Indian cinema on the global stage. Actor Freida Pinto called the honour well-deserved and encouraged collective celebration rather than debate.
Deepika made her Hollywood debut in 2017 with xXx: Return of Xander Cage and has since been part of several major Indian productions, including Padmaavat, Piku, Pathaan, Fighter, and the sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD. Her performances have earned her critical and commercial success both in India and abroad.
While Deepika is being celebrated as the first Indian actress to receive this recognition, the only other Indian-origin personality previously honoured was Sabu Dastagir in 1960. Her inclusion in the Walk of Fame signals a growing appreciation for Indian talent in global cinema and cements her legacy as one of the most influential Indian actors of her generation.
