Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone has been named India’s first-ever Mental Health Ambassador by the Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. She shared the news on Instagram, describing it as an honour and expressing eagerness to collaborate with the ministry to strengthen the country’s mental health ecosystem.
Deepika has been vocal about her own mental health journey and has long championed de-stigmatising conversations around depression through her non-profit, the Live Love Laugh Foundation.
In her new role, she aims to amplify awareness, support early intervention, and partner with public health programs to reach underserved communities across India.
