An Australian woman received an unexpected act of kindness when her laundry was saved from the rain by a Sikh postman.

Verrity Wandel returned home recently to find her clothes taken off the line and already dry, despite a downpour earlier in the day. Curious, she checked her CCTV footage and discovered the reason: while delivering a package, a postman had paused to remove her laundry from the line so it would not get soaked.

The postman, identified as Gurpreet Singh, carefully took down each item of clothing and placed them in a sheltered spot. Touched by his thoughtfulness, Wandel called him “amazing” and “one in a million” when sharing the clip online. Her post quickly drew praise from viewers, many of whom described Singh’s gesture as an example of simple but powerful kindness.

The video resonated widely, highlighting how small acts of consideration can brighten lives. Several users also applauded the Sikh community’s reputation for service and compassion. According to Australia’s 2021 census, the country is home to more than 210,000 Sikhs, making up about 0.8% of the population.

Singh’s gesture has since gone viral, with many hailing him as a symbol of humanity at its best.
