Veteran Bollywood actors Dharmendra and Prem Chopra, two of Hindi cinema’s most enduring icons, were hospitalized in Mumbai this week following age-related health complications. According to reports from their families and medical teams, both actors are now in stable condition and recovering under observation.
Dharmendra, 89, was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital after experiencing mild breathing difficulties and fatigue. Doctors described his condition as “stable and improving,” noting that he was admitted primarily for precautionary evaluation and rest. The beloved actor, fondly known as Bollywood’s “He-Man,” has remained active in recent years, making public appearances and engaging with fans through social media. His family, including sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, have been by his side and have requested privacy while he recuperates.
Prem Chopra, 88, known for his memorable portrayals as Hindi cinema’s quintessential villain, was admitted to Lilavati Hospital earlier in the week. Hospital officials confirmed that he was undergoing treatment for age-related weakness and dehydration. “Mr Chopra is responding well to treatment and is likely to be discharged soon,” a family friend said.
Both Dharmendra and Prem Chopra have been pillars of Indian cinema, with careers spanning more than six decades. Dharmendra’s iconic roles in Sholay, Chupke Chupke, and Phool Aur Patthar defined an era of heroic charisma, while Prem Chopra’s performances in films like Bobby, Kati Patang, and Do Raaste made him one of the most recognizable antagonists in Bollywood history.
