Bhutan’s Prime Minister, Dasho Tshering Tobgay, along with his spouse Aum Tashi Doma and the country’s spiritual head, Je Khenpo Trulku Jigme Choedra, will undertake an official visit to India from September 3 – 6. The trip, announced by the Ministry of External Affairs, highlights the deep-rooted cultural and strategic ties between the two nations.
The itinerary includes the consecration of the Royal Bhutan Temple in Rajgir, Bihar, built on land provided by Bihar’s government – as a symbol of shared Buddhist heritage. PM Tobgay and the Je Khenpo will then travel to Ayodhya on September 5, where he will offer prayers at the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple during a red-carpet welcome hosted by local officials.
The visit will conclude in New Delhi, where PM Tobgay is scheduled to meet with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. This follows the tradition of frequent high-level exchanges between the neighboring Himalayan nations, underscoring their mutual trust and goodwill.
This diplomatic visit comes less than a year after PM Tobgay’s participation in India’s inaugural Leadership Conclave in February, signaling continuity and deepening ties between India and Bhutan
