An Indian restaurant in Ilford, London, became the scene of a violent arson attack late Friday, leaving five people seriously injured. According to the Metropolitan Police, a 15-year-old boy and a 54-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of arson and endangering life. CCTV footage reportedly captured the suspects entering the premises and pouring a flammable liquid on the floor, which ignited the blaze.
The incident took place at the Indian Aroma restaurant around 9 pm. Firefighters, wearing breathing apparatus, rescued five people from inside the ground-floor establishment before bringing the fire under control. Approximately nine individuals managed to escape on their own prior to the arrival of emergency services.
Detective Chief Inspector Mark Rogers of the Met’s Central Specialist Crime North unit said the investigation remains active, and authorities are urging community members – with any information – to come forward. The London Fire Brigade spokesperson confirmed substantial damage to the restaurant’s ground floor and credited first responders for swift action that prevented further harm.
