A vehicle linked to Punjabi singer-actor Ammy Virk’s concert convoy was targeted in a shooting in Abbotsford, British Columbia, shortly after his performance on September 5.
The Abbotsford Police Department said a vehicle travelling in the 2500-block of McCallum Road was fired upon by occupants of another vehicle shortly after 11 pm. Police said a dark-coloured SUV was believed to have been involved and that no one was injured. Initial indications suggest the shooting was targeted.
The incident occurred after Virk performed at the Rogers Forum as part of the Canadian leg of his 2026 Unity Tour. Canadian and Indian media reports have linked the targeted vehicle to the convoy associated with his concert. Some reports said the vehicle was a bulletproof Rolls-Royce and that around seven shots were fired. However, police have not confirmed the identities of the occupants or whether Virk was inside the vehicle.
Virk’s father, Kuljit Singh, has also disputed reports that the singer himself was targeted, saying Virk and his family are safe. He said the shooting was directed at the convoy of the event organisers.
Shortly after the shooting, police responded to a separate report of a vehicle fire about five kilometres away on Sunnyside Place. An SUV was found completely engulfed in flames. Investigators are examining whether the fire is connected to the shooting.
The Major Crime Unit is investigating the incident and has appealed for witnesses and dashcam footage from the areas around the time of the shooting. No arrests have been announced and the motive remains under investigation.
The incident adds to concerns over violence surrounding Punjabi artists in Canada, where several singers and performers have faced threats or attacks in recent years.
