It was celebration of Indian culture in a unique way on a global stage. Ambassador Sanjeev Singla felicitated top performers of Bharat Ko Janiye Quiz and winners of Vishwa Hindi Diwas Essay Writing Competition from France and Indonesia.
Bharat Ko Janiye Quiz began its journey in 2015 following an announcement by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi during the 13th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas celebrations. The Ministry has organized four editions of Bharat Ko Janiye Quiz in 2015, 2018, 2020 and 2022 so far.
The Quiz is an endeavor of the Government of India to strengthen connect with the Indian Diaspora, particularly the youth, and also to engage foreigners keen to learn about India. The quiz is designed to promote a deeper understanding of India’s history, culture, growth story, nation-making, and its contributions to the world.
Bharat Ko Janiye Quiz is a flagship initiative of Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India . The Quiz aims at motivating People of Indian origin/Indian community living abroad to know and understand India.
The BKJ Quiz will be held online for two categories of PIOs /Foreigners & NRI aged between 14 to 50 years. The quiz is open to foreign nationals also. The terms and conditions for participating may be accessed from the web portal of Bharat Ko Janiye which features the Guidelines and Rules, along with other relevant information including Model Test and FAQs. Registration on the Portal is mandatory by eligible contestant. There is no entry fee.
Dummy Quiz have also been launched earlier for the benefit of familiarization by the prospective participants. The registered contestants may appear in the Quiz from anywhere.
About ambassador Sanjeev Singla
A career diplomat, Ambassador Sanjeev Singla joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1997. He has served in various capacities in Indian Missions abroad in Paris (September 1999-December 2002), Dhaka (December 2005-December 2008), Geneva (January 2009-August 2011) and Tel Aviv (November 2013-July 2014), and at headquarters in Delhi in the Ministry of External Affairs on the US desk (December 2002-June 2004), as Deputy Chief of Protocol (July 2004-December 2005), and as Director, Foreign Secretary’s Office (August 2011-October 2013). He was Private Secretary to the Prime Minister during August 2014-August 2019, and India’s Ambassador to Israel during October 2019-December 2024.
He is married to a fellow batchmate and diplomat, Mrs. K. Nandini, who has served as India’s Ambassador to Portugal and India’s High Commissioner to Mauritius, and is currently the Director General of Indian Council for Cultural Relations.
