In a major reinforcement of its long-term commitment, Amazon’s $35 billion investment in India was announced on 10 December as part of the company’s renewed push to expand its digital, logistics and technology footprint by 2030.
The announcement came following high-level discussions and aligns with Amazon’s broader strategy to deepen its presence in one of its fastest-growing global markets. The company said the fresh infusion will support e-commerce expansion, cloud infrastructure, logistics capabilities and the scaling of digital tools aimed at small businesses.
According to Amazon, this long-term plan builds on significant investments made over the past decade, including billions spent on fulfilment centres, transportation networks and data infrastructure. The company noted that the latest phase of funding will accelerate digital adoption, support small and medium businesses, and strengthen India’s integration into global supply chains. As part of this effort, the company reiterated that this $35 billion investment in India will prioritise export growth, job creation and the development of AI-enabled services.
Officials also highlighted that the investment aligns with India’s national priorities, including boosting manufacturing-linked exports, expanding the digital economy and modernising retail and logistics ecosystems. With India emerging as a key market for cloud services, artificial intelligence and digital commerce, Amazon’s commitment signals a strategic bet on the country’s long-term economic trajectory.
