Diwali festivities have started in Thailand. There is a “Amazing Thailand Diwali Festival Bangkok 2024”, and Ambassador Nagesh Singh attended its Press Conference. This will be a 7-day event to be held from 28 Oct – 3 Nov. The event has been co-organized by Indian Diaspora Associations, Royal Thai Govt Authorities, & Indian companies in Thailand. The festival will feature Indian handicraft, exhibition, students’ competitions, lighting of Diyas, cultural performances, Indian street food, and screenings of cultural documentaries.
Dressed in Indian attire, H.E. Mr. Sorawong Thienthong, Minister of Tourism and Sports, lit the lamp, alongwith Governor TAT, representatives from the Bangkok Metropolitan Authority and the Tourism Authority of Thailand.
The biggest annual festival of India and Hindus will fall on Nov 1 this year. This year marks the third celebration of the Diwali Festival in Bangkok’s Little India. The primary aim is to strengthen diplomatic and trade relations between Thailand and India, positioning Phahurat Road and Khlong Ong Ang as Thailand’s first cultural tourism landmark, “Little India.”
The festival’s opening ceremony will take place on Tuesday, October 29, graced by the presence of Ms. Paetongtarn Shinawatra, the Prime Minister, along with former Prime Minister Mr. Srettha Thavisin, the Minister of Tourism and Sports, the Indian Ambassador to Thailand, the Governor of Bangkok, and the Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand. Various community leaders, members of the Thai-Indian community, and religious figures will also attend.
