Seventy-five Indian students have secured the prestigious Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s Degree scholarships for the 2026-28 academic cycle, reinforcing India’s position among the leading countries benefiting from the European Union’s flagship higher education programme.
The Erasmus Mundus scholarships provide fully funded opportunities for students to pursue master’s degrees across multiple European universities. The programme covers tuition fees, travel expenses and monthly living costs, enabling recipients to study in two or more countries during their course.
European Union officials said the latest batch further strengthens educational ties between India and Europe. India has consistently ranked among the top countries for Erasmus Mundus scholars since the programme’s launch in 2004.
Apart from promoting academic excellence, the initiative allows students to gain international exposure and build global networks. Many graduates have gone on to careers in research, technology, policy and entrepreneurship.
The announcement came alongside the launch of the EU-India Student Ambassadors’ Network, which brings together student representatives from Indian universities to increase awareness about European higher education and research opportunities.
The scholarships are considered among the most competitive international programmes available to students worldwide. For aspiring Indian students, the latest results underscore the growing opportunities available for pursuing advanced education abroad with financial support.
With interest in overseas education continuing to rise, the success of these 75 scholars highlights India’s strong presence in global academia and the expanding educational partnership between India and the European Union.
