After the Palestinian militant group Hamas launched a wave of rocket attacks in the Israel’s southern region, ten Nepali students have been murdered and four more have been injured in the country. The development was shared in a statement from Nepal’s foreign ministry on Monday.
The foreign ministry of Nepal announced via press release that the recent Hamas incident in Israel claimed the lives of 10 Nepali people. Two of the 17 Nepalese nationals employed on a farm in Kibbutz Alumim, a community close to the Gaza Strip, managed to escape safely, four others sustained injuries, and one remains missing, it claimed. All 10 people killed in the Hamas attack were students of agriculture from Sudur Paschim University in Western Nepal, according to Ministry sources. Families and relatives of Nepalese students killed in Israel are horrified and distraught.
On Saturday, Hamas launched a series of airstrikes into Southern Israel, killing over 600 people—including soldiers—and injuring over 1,900 others. In retaliation, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) launched many assaults against Hamas’ crucial infrastructure. The largest escalation in violence between Israel and Gaza in decades has resulted in about 1,000 deaths on both sides.
The Nepali government has also asked the Israeli government to make the required preparations for the injured individuals who are receiving medical care. The Ministry declared that it was working with the Israeli government and the Israeli embassy in Tel Aviv to repatriate any citizens who desired to do so.
